GCG provided the Franklin Housing Authority with survey, design, bidding, and construction administration services for the Central Park Terrace Sewer Main Replacement Project. This project called for the replacement of 750 feet of 8-inch asbestos cement (AC) sewer main. The Housing Authority had continuous backups due to minimal slope and sags in the existing main.
The project consisted of the design of the following: Abandonment and removal of asbestos cement (AC) sewer main, replacement with new 8-inch PVC SDR-35 sewer main, replacement of all services with PVC main, installation of new manholes and cleanouts. The Housing Authority also replaced additional indoor sewer plumbing (6-inch PVC Sch. 40) to help increase the slope out of the building and minimize chances for backups. New gate valves, hydrants, and additional water main were installed for a future water main improvement project. It was found that the primary electrical service was not in a protected conduit throughout the site. The water and sewer main installations included multiple primary electrical crossings that required sleeves. Final restoration included milling and overlaying of the entire street.
